About DuaSalaam
A free Islamic companion built to make daily worship simpler, clearer, and more consistent.
DuaSalaam is a free Islamic utility app and website created to support Muslims in their everyday acts of worship. From accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction to authentic daily supplications, the Hijri calendar, and the 99 Names of Allah, our goal is to gather the tools a Muslim reaches for each day into one calm, reliable, ad-light experience.
We started DuaSalaam because we found that most Islamic apps were either cluttered with adverts, hidden behind subscriptions, or inconsistent in the accuracy of their prayer-time calculations. We wanted something different: a tool that respects your attention, protects your privacy, and treats the religious content it presents with the seriousness it deserves.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple — to help Muslims everywhere keep their connection with Allah strong through consistent daily worship. We believe technology should quietly serve that goal, not get in the way of it. Every feature we build is measured against one question: does this make it easier for someone to pray on time, remember Allah, and grow in their faith?
That principle shapes the whole product. We keep the interface uncluttered, we avoid intrusive advertising inside the app, and we make the core features available to everyone at no cost, with no account required for the essentials.

How We Calculate Prayer Times
Prayer times are derived from the position of the sun relative to your geographic location. The five daily prayers are tied to specific solar events: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (after the sun passes its zenith), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night).
The main difference between calculation methods is the angle of the sun below the horizon used to define Fajr and Isha. Different Islamic authorities have adopted slightly different angles, which is why prayer times can vary between apps. DuaSalaam lets you choose from widely recognised methods, including:
- Muslim World League (MWL) — common across Europe and many parts of the world.
- Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) — widely used in the United States and Canada.
- Umm al-Qura University, Makkah — the standard in Saudi Arabia.
- Egyptian General Authority of Survey — used in Egypt and parts of Africa.
- University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi — common in South Asia.
For the Asr prayer, we also account for the two main juristic opinions: the standard (Shafi’i, Maliki, Hanbali) view and the Hanafi view, which begins Asr slightly later. We recommend following the method used by your local mosque or scholarly authority, since they have determined what is most appropriate for your region.
Where Our Content Comes From
We take the authenticity of religious content seriously. The duas in our collection are masnoon — supplications established in the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Each is presented with its original Arabic, a transliteration to aid pronunciation, and a clear English translation.
The 99 Names of Allah are drawn from the well-known traditional list, with concise explanations of each attribute. Our Hijri calendar dates are aligned with established astronomical data and, for moon-sighting-sensitive dates, may differ by a day from your local announcement — we always advise confirming Ramadan and Eid with your local moon-sighting authority.
If you ever spot something that you believe is inaccurate, we genuinely want to hear about it. Corrections from knowledgeable readers help us keep the content trustworthy for everyone.
Our Commitment to Privacy
DuaSalaam is built to be respectful of your data. The core features work on-device, and we collect only what is needed to provide the service. Your precise GPS location is processed on your device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla — it is not sold or shared. Personal worship records, if you choose to back them up, are end-to-end encrypted so that even we cannot read them.
You can read the full details in our Privacy Policy.
